Poughquag, N.Y., resident Michael Andrade featured in cover story of newest Centenary University magazine.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., July 15, 2019—Michael Andrade has already made his mark in the equine industry—and he only graduated from Centenary University in May. As an undergraduate, the equine studies major from Poughquag, N.Y., won two national riding championships and is now advancing his career at a world-renowned farm.

Andrade is one of seven students featured in the cover story of the most recent issue of the Centenarian, the University’s alumni magazine. Called “The Future U,” the story spotlights outstanding students and the futures they envision as a result of earning a Centenary University degree. The story is part of a wider campaign of the same name, which highlights Centenary’s career-focused educational approach.

Centenary’s national reputation for excellence in equine studies made Andrade’s college choice easy. “I knew I wanted to make riding my profession, so I only applied to Centenary,” he said. “You can do anything with this program. Centenary has been amazing.”

Competing on the University’s ANRC (American National Riding Commission) team, Andrade won two consecutive championships, and in May placed an impressive third for the prestigious Cacchione Cup at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. Now, Andrade is on track to achieve his dream to become a top trainer in the industry with a full-time job at Heritage Farms, a world-renowned facility with locations in New York and Florida.
