CENTENARY ALUMNUS AND PRINCIPAL OF WARREN HILLS REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IS HONORED WITH THE CENTENARY UNIVERSITY/VISIONS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION EDUCATIONAL LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Hackettstown, N.J., December 13, 2017 – Christopher Kavcak, the Principal of Warren Hills Regional High School and a Centenary alumnus, was recently honored with the Centenary University/Visions Federal Credit Union Educational Leader of the Year Award. This Award is bestowed upon an innovative and inspiring school leader from Northern New Jersey.

“The award recipient is determined by nominations and testimonials from colleagues, parents and students,” says Dr. Timothy Frederiks, Assistant Professor of Education at Centenary University and Chair of the Education Department. “This year, we had over 60 highly regarded nominees. All are very deserving, but Christopher Kavcak’s nominations really stood out.”

Christopher Kavcak was appointed as Principal of the Warren Hills Regional High School in April 2016. He was employed by the Pohatcong Township Board of Education as a school principal at Pohatcong Township Elementary School for three years previous to his appointment. Prior to his administrative experiences, Kavcak was a Mathematics teacher for the Warren Hills Regional High School from September 1, 2005 through June 30, 2012 when he assumed the position of Supervisor of Mathematics and Science for the 2012-2013 school year. He holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Centenary University.

“Christopher Kavcak goes above and beyond his duties,” says one of his nominators. “He is someone you can talk to about personal or professional issues and will help you come up with a solution in a non-judgmental way. He has high expectations, but not without the support a leader should give. I have worked with a lot of principals and he is one of the easiest to work with.”

This award came as a surprise to Kavcak.

“I am so pleased to be honored in this manner,” he says. “Education is my passion, so it is wonderful to hear that my colleagues feel that I am making a positive impact at Warren Hills Regional High School.”

Founded in 1867 by the Newark Conference of the United Methodist Church, Centenary University’s academic program integrates a solid liberal arts foundation with a strong career orientation.
