Chi Force Wear: a line of medical apparel designed to provide warmth and dignity to patients undergoing treatment
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., May 1, 2019—Two members of Centenary University’s Enactus team recently traveled to the New York Reception for Enactus in New York City to share updates on their original product, Chi Force Wear, a line of medical jackets made to improve the overall quality of life of people undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
Market research shows that a source of distress for chemo patients is prepping what they should wear for their treatment. Chi Force Wear eliminates that worry. More than five years in the making, the comfortable jacket features accessible port-access through 9” invisible plastic zippers on either side of the chest area. The jackets allow patients to feel comfortable, warm, and safe during radiation therapy.
Jessica Toribio of Phillipsburg, N.J., and Mariah Russo of Westfield, N.J., represented the team at the event, which was hosted by Boston Consulting Group. “We were so grateful for the opportunity, as it allowed us to share the mission of Chi Force Wear and showcase this practical and stylish vest that will bring ease to so many,” said Russo, a Centenary senior and Enactus co-president. “After the presentation, we received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback. Some people shared their personal stories of times they could have used our jacket, either for themselves or for members of their family or friends. We left this event with a tremendous amount of inspiration.”
The Enactus team collaborated with the University’s fashion department to develop the product. To learn more, donate to the cause, or purchase a jacket, click the link: Chi Force Wear Facebook Page
Centenary’s Enactus team has an impressive record of creating student-led entrepreneurial projects that empower people and impact the future. In October 2018, they participated in the International Ford Mobility Innovation Challenge, where they took third place for their mobility device, Shieldz Wearable Technologies—a wristband that warns drivers of fatigue through sound and vibration. In addition, the team has gained recognition for their outstanding performance at other regional and national Enactus competitions.
