The Hack 2.0

Young woman graduating at Centenary UniversityIn 2020, Student Life, along with various student groups, determined that a paper yearbook was not what students wanted to hold the memories they had of their years at Centenary. From that, the idea of an online yearbook was born.

2020 was an extraordinary year with the COVID-19 pandemic nearly shutting down Centenary University. Despite a nation in crisis, Centenary continued to provide students with online classes and the class of 2020 was able to graduate online and on time on May 9, 2020. The Centenary administration made every attempt to create an online graduation experience that was as close to live as possible. The attendance at the online graduation was so huge that the thousands of connections literally and briefly took down the Centenary website! This was not the preferred graduation experience for the class of 2020, but these grads are stronger from having experienced and persevered during the pandemic.

Two young men celebrating their graduationThe class of 2021, studying and learning during the time of Centenary Choice, also experienced the strain and heartache of the pandemic, but as time went on, they were able to have an in-person commencement. We are proud of all our Centenary graduates, but these two classes persevered through adversity not seen since WWII. We look forward to hosting more online yearbooks as more classes pass through the hallowed halls of Centenary University.
