Newton, N.J., resident among the 98 percent of Centenary alumni who are employed or accepted to graduate school within nine months of earning their degrees.
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., Aug. 2, 2019—Ben Sibblies is a born leader. While an undergraduate at Centenary University, the Newton, N.J., resident was elected president of the Student Government Association. Now, he’s putting those leadership skills to work as a management trainee with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, a full-time job offer he received before his college graduation in May. The fast start to his career spotlights Centenary’s strong track record for post-graduate success: 98 percent of Centenary alumni are employed or continuing their education nine months after commencement.
Sibblies is one of seven students featured in the cover story of the most recent issue of the Centenarian, the University’s alumni magazine. Called “The Future U,” the story spotlights outstanding students and the futures they envision as a result of earning a Centenary University degree. The story is part of a wider campaign of the same name, which highlights Centenary’s career-focused educational approach.
A business administration major, Sibblies honed his leadership skills as a member of Centenary’s Sports Management Association, as well as through his participation in student government. In April, the University selected him for the Dr. Charles Frederickson Award, presented annually to a student who exemplifies high ethical behavior and leadership. “Leadership is a staple at Centenary University,” Sibblies said of his Centenary experience. He went on to share this takeaway: “Never burn a bridge, because you don’t know who’s on the other side of it that you might need someday.”
