Where are our Alumni Now?

Meet Abby! “I graduated from Centenary in 2017 with a double major in psychology and mathematics. After Centenary, I went to Lehigh University for graduate school. I am currently in my last year of my PhD program and will be graduating with a PhD in Counseling Psychology in August 2023. Then, I will be starting a position as a psychologist in the Department of Veterans Affairs. While at Centenary, I was apart of the women’s cross-country and lacrosse teams. My favorite thing about Centenary was the small size that allowed for me to create lasting friendships and positive relationships with my professors.”

Meet Aleigh! “I graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies with a concentration in science. Currently I am a Project Manager in the Clinical Division at Syneos Health. I have been working in this industry for nine years and enjoy every part of it. While I originally wanted to go down the path of an equestrian career, I branched out to the clinical trial industry upon graduation and haven’t turned back. Since obtaining my B.S. degree involved many science classes, I was able to utilize my learning and apply it towards these complex human trials. Even though I don’t work with horses as a career, I have my own horse and ride 5-6 days a week and compete regionally in Dressage during the show season and my Equine Science knowledge comes in handy every single day that I am at the barn. To keep up with current trends and events in the horse world, I also help with social media at Horsemen’s Outlet a few hours a week. One of my favorite things about Centenary was the quality of the Equestrian Center. The staff always ensured each horse had the best care, the facility was safe and clean, and that all staff members were welcoming to students of all disciplines and levels. In terms of classes, both at the Equestrian Center and on campus, the smaller class sizes really do wonders for focus and quality of instruction, and I found this contributed to a more successful learning environment.

Meet Alexandria! “I am from the class of 2017 and majored in Theatre Arts (concentration in acting) and minored in Equine Studies! During my freshman year I competed on the dressage team and even competed at Nationals in 2014! I spent most of my time both on stage and working behind the scenes for many Centenary Stage Company productions. Some of my favorite memories come from the Young Audience Series children’s theatre tour. I’ve always loved working with kids and especially performing for them through the Young Audience Series, which led me to where I am now. Currently I own my own business, Something Royal Party Company, which provides entertainment for special events and birthday parties. One of my favorite things about Centenary was the small class sizes. Professors took the time to know their students all by name and were always willing to answer questions to help further our knowledge in the current endeavor. I’m grateful for my time at Centenary and how it shaped the performer I became today.”

Meet Alexis! “I graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration concentrating in Management & Marketing. I️ was heavily involved on campus through the following organizations and clubs: Vice President of Senate for the Student Government Association, a Black Student Union member, a Student Activities member, a CU Service member, a Cross Country Student Athlete, a Resident Assistant, and I was a member and former President of Alpha Theta Psi Sorority. I️ am currently the Multicultural Admissions Counselor for Gwynedd Mercy University and Creator of The Blueprynt Experience. My favorite part about Centenary was being a part of EOP. From unlimited resources readily available for me to meeting and bonding with so many people with similar backgrounds as me, I️ never really felt out of place or unsupported.”

Meet Amanda! “I graduated from Centenary in 2016 with my Liberal Arts degree and a concentration in Elementary Education and Special Education. I currently work at Woodbridge School District, the same district I went to school in! I recently graduated in July of 2021 with my Master of Education, Early Childhood Education. This is my sixth-year teaching Kindergarten and I love it! I’ve sat on my district’s Full Day Kindergarten and report card committees. I won teacher of the year in the 2019-2020 school year. When I was a student at Centenary, I was the SGA president, a FYL for the secondary education sections, a member of student activities, a tour guide and apart of the E-board for the dance team. I plan to continue my education and get my supervisor certification in the future!”

Meet Arianna! “I graduated in 2012 and earned a BS in Biology and an AS in Equine Science. I am currently in Veterinary School at University College Dublin in Ireland. During my time at Centenary, I was a first-year leader and a second-year peer leader which gave me the opportunity to help new students smoothly make the transition from high school to college. My favorite experience at Centenary was being a part of the IHSA and Hunter/Jumper team. The professors were very personably and got to know us on an individual basis, without that support, I wouldn’t be where I am today!”

Meet Bill! “I graduated Summa Cum Laude as a student-athlete in the Winter of 2014 with a BA in History and a Minor in Political Science. As a collegiate golfer for the Cyclones, I was a 4-year letter winner, contributed to the first tournament win as a team in program history, earned awards in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) including making All-Conference in 2012. I was an NCAA FAR-FAB Spring Scholar Athlete all four years and named Centenary University Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2013. In the classroom and on campus, I was named Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities in 2012 and 2013, became President of the Commuter Council, and a member of Phi Alpha Theta. (National History Honor Society) Centenary taught me the values of leadership, a balanced work ethic in the classroom and golf course, and continued service in the community. I chose the University because of the small class sizes, caring professors and staff, and their generosity to many programs in the tri-state area, nationally, and globally. I am currently in the educational field for the past 10 years. In 2018, I was named Educational Support Professional (ESP) of the Year at Stanhope School and an NJEA 30 Under 30 Recipient. I coach two sports: High School golf at Lenape Valley and Middle School Basketball at Stanhope. To give back, I serve on the Wallkill Golf Club Board of Directors and on the University’s Alumni Association Executive Board (AAEB). I can’t thank Centenary enough for how they guided me to where I am today.”

Meet Brianne! “I went to Centenary for Communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism, Minor in Marketing, and MBA with a focus in Management. Currently I work for Inmar Intelligence as a Client Development Director. Additionally, I just passed the NJ Real Estate exam and am also working with Sotheby’s Realty part time as a Real Estate agent helping clients find the perfect home for them! During my time at Centenary, I was involved in Enactus and during my MBA I was an Adjunct Professor and worked with Enactus as a Graduate Assistant. I really enjoyed being a part of Enactus and traveling around the country to the national competitions. I had the privilege of being a presenter on the Enactus team and met some amazing people along the way!”

I am currently working as Assistant Trainer to Lisa K. Schmidt, a USEF ‘S’ Dressage Judge and USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist. In addition, I actively compete my own two horses, Dropshot and Metallic Montana. I rode for Centenary’s IDA Team during my Freshman and Sophomore year. Meet Chris! “My time on the Men’s Basketball team here at Centenary University has been some of the best memories of my life. Being able to play the sport I love, while also getting to further my education, solidified to me that Centenary was truly the perfect home. Having the opportunity to take over as Interim Head Coach has been a dream come true for me. Coaching basketball has always been my dream job and getting to start that journey at the place I call home makes it even more surreal. I am very excited to bring the passion and work ethic from my time as a player at Centenary and apply it to coaching this team and our student athletes.”

Meet Christina! “I graduated in 2009 with a BS in Equine Studies and a Concentration in Communications. During my time at Centenary, I participated in all 3 riding teams throughout my 4 years, as well as, worked at the barn all 4 years. My senior year I was Equine student of the year! We are one of the top training and certification programs in North America with students and mentors all over the US and Canada. I’ve been trimming for 10+ years and have traveled all over the country teaching students and have hosted many in my home state for training.”

Meet Cori! “I am from the class of 2017 and was an Equine Studies student. I was on the IHSA Team, a Peer Tutor, Equestrian Center Tour Guide,  and was on Campus Ministry as well as the Chaplain’s Assistant. Currently I will be starting graduate school in May, pursuing both a masters in Athletic Training and a Doctorate of Physical therapy. I live in Ohio but loved being a Jersey girl during my time at Centenary. I hope someday life will bring me back to New Jersey!”

Meet Curtis! “I attended Centenary University from 2012 – 2016. I graduated with a B.A. in Individualized Studies with Dual Concentrations in – Business Management & Sociology while taking special topic courses in Fine Art, Audio Production, TV/News Production, Social Media Marketing, Mass Law & History of New Jersey. I was associated with the following organizations & honor societies; EOP, NFB, Chi Alpha Epsilon, Delta Alpha Pi. I also contributed political/social cartoons & articles to Centenary’s Newsletter, “The Quill” while managing their social media accounts. I have poetry published in issues of PRISM as well as artwork in Centenary’s Class of 2016 yearbook along with photographs. In my last few semesters, I was heavily involved with Centenary’s Social Media Center of Expertise. I started a Podcast in 2015 called Podcasts w/ Curtis Mack where I write, produce, record, edit, & promote content for talent particularly on the East Coast, but has gone international. This later blossomed into a small business, CM Productions LLC – where, I help build revenue for clients by optimizing their brand awareness, streamlining operations, & increasing sales with proven multichannel solutions based on industry trends. I gained most of my professional sales & marketing experience from working in commercial radio & more recently apply that expertise in the medical industry. It’s hard to name my favorite part about Centenary University. The students, faculty, & staff are all oriented around the same goal – success. I must give a special shout out to Centenary’s Educational Opportunity Program – without that program & all those involved, I would not have been able to accomplish what I did so far in life. I’ve been asked to speak with students at the college level at CU and the high school level in my hometown at JTHS about art & business. Centenary helped me achieve success in so many ways, I never would have thought to be possible coming from a family of 14 siblings. My next goal is to publish a children’s book that I started back in college.”

Meet Ellie! “I transferred to Centenary University from Sussex County Community College in 2019. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Sports and Entertainment Management and have continued my education to earn my master’s degree in Leadership and Public Administration. During my time at Centenary University, I have had many roles on campus, particularly in-residence life and athletics. I chose to study at Centenary because it is a small, tight knit community with a sense of family and belonging. My favorite parts of Centenary University include the small campus, friendly staff, faculty, and students, and the continuous opportunities to grow!” Fun Fact: Ellie is from Nottingham, England!

Meet Gabe! “I was a student of the last graduating class of Centenary College before we transitioned to University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in Sports Management. My time at Centenary helped me grow into a young adult very early on. The Sports Management program led by Professor Dave Perricone did an incredible job in providing me the tools and confidence to take on internships with the New York Red Bulls and New York Jets throughout my 4 years at school. I’m now in my dream job working in Major League Soccer for New York City Football Club as a Premium Service Executive.” – Gabe was part of the 2021 MLS Cup Championship winning team.

Meet Haylie! “I graduated in 2022 with a degree in Equine Studies: Communications for the Equine Industry and a minor in social media marketing. I am currently running my own equine marketing business and will be working for Colin Syquia helping him ride and manage. I was in IHSA and was co-captain of the hunter/jumper team. I also did the ANRC national team my senior year. My favorite thing about Centenary was the friendships I made; I know that some of the friendships I made there will be lifelong. I also know that the professors (equine especially) will always be there to help and support me. And of course, the horses were one of my favorite things, they’re the best teachers!”

Meet Jackie! “I graduated from Centenary in 2015. I went to college wanting to excel in the equine industry, but I knew I needed a strong business foundation to do so, so I did a double major in Equine Business Management BS, Equine Science BS, Business management with a focus in Marketing, and Accounting BS. Currently I am running my own business, Ferguson Equine Transport LLC with bases in both Oak Ridge NJ and Ocala FL. I ship show and sale horses all over the east coast whether it is for relocation, imports from Europe, or horse shows. I also have a Magnawave (PEMF) small business that I run focusing on junior/amateur hunters and Grand Prix horses, working closely with the horses and veterinarians. While I was a student at Centenary, I participated on the IHSA and Hunter Jumper Teams. I enjoyed that Centenary was a small school. With the classes being small you got individualized attention and grasp more knowledge in the equine industry.”

Currently I am a Windows Device Business Development Manager for SHI.  I am also on the esports team in the company helping colleges and universities stand up their competitive esports programs. I also coach high school and travel club lacrosse. While I was a student at Centenary, I was on the lacrosse team and helped with move in crew every year. One of my fondest memories at Centenary was playing lacrosse with my friends. Knowing where the program is and where it has been, being on a team with a winning record and a post season tournament was pretty special in 2013. Having the opportunity to play lacrosse at the college level was something I never thought I would be able to do.  From the team I have lifelong friendships and network of guys that I can rely on for pretty much anything. This network set me up with my job I currently have and has provided me the opportunity to live out my dream of coaching high school lacrosse.”

Meet Jessica! “I graduated from Centenary University in May 2020 with my undergraduate degree.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion with a concentration in Fashion Merchandising. I chose Centenary University because it is one of the few schools that offer a degree in Fashion, in New Jersey. I also loved the Universities partnership with the Disney College Program. During my time as an undergraduate I was a Resident Assistant, on the Dance Team, a part of Becca’s Closet, and founded the National Retail Federation Student Association, as well as the Resident Hall Association. In 2019, I completed the Disney College Program in Spring of 2019! I returned to Centenary in August 2021 when I was hired to be the Graduate Resident Director and am continuing my education to receive my Master of Leadership and Public Administration degree. My favorite thing about Centenary is the opportunities that students can experience while here.  Without Centenary, I would have not been able to do the Disney College Program or found my interest in Residence Life and Higher Education.”

Meet Jessica! “I graduated in 2017 and majored in Fashion Design. I currently work as an Associate Category Manager for Bed Bath and Beyond. While at Centenary I was on the cross-country team and participated in Enactus and Campus Ministry. My favorite thing about Centenary was I remember starting freshman year being nervous, shy, and homesick. From the friends I made at Centenary, along with the staff and faculty, I always felt supported and welcomed. Centenary made me blossom into the person I am today.”

Meet Jibril! I was a student at Centenary University from 2011-2015; and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts as a double major in Political Science & Governmental Affairs with a concentration in Global Security. At Centenary, I was fortunate enough to be chosen for the EOP program due to being a first-generation college student. Centenary University definitely impacted my life in a positive way. I always had opportunities to network with students, staff, and professionals from multiple different industries throughout my classes which opened my eyes to an endless number of options for future employment. On Spring break 2013, another student and I were the first students that Centenary ever sent overseas for a humanitarian project with the Soles4Souls organization. Being able to go to Costa Rica and represent Centenary University for humanitarian purposes is an experience that I will never forget. My favorite thing about Centenary University is that no matter where you are from or what you want to do with your life, there is always someone who would be able to assist you in accomplishing your personal goals. Because of my phenomenal Academic Advisors at Centenary, I chose to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. I am currently a Federal Officer at the United States Department of Justice where I’m responsible for investigations, human resources, and security functions.

Meet Joe! “I attended Centenary from 2011 -2015 and went for Business Management. I currently work for the pharmaceutical company Merck in our Global Clinical Supply Chain Department. Meet Justin! “I graduated from Centenary University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Management. During my freshman year Academic Foundations Course, I created a business plan to sell my signature pumpkin pie pudding and was successfully able to generate a profit at the end of the semester. Over the course of 2015 to 2018, I continued to expand my pudding and dessert product offerings and eventually opened a dessert store front in September 2018 called Dalcourt’s Desserts in Hackettstown. I was able to directly apply the knowledge I acquired in my studies at Centenary to operate, manage, and market my own family business. In addition to my dessert shop, I interned at the WNTI radio station recording voice overs for advertisements and was involved in ENACTUS. As an alumnus, I am actively involved with the Centenary community as a speaker for various business courses, freshman orientation, and catering desserts for campus events.”

Meet Kait! “I graduated from Centenary University in 2019 with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Equine Studies. When asked what Centenary means to me, my answer would simply be everything. My decision to attend Centenary has had a profound effect on my life. Through my deep involvement in the equine department as a member of the hunter/jumper team and taking riding classes all 4years, a peer impressed with my work ethic connected me with a local professional our senior year. Unexpectedly I was later offered a full-time position at his farm for post-grad. With law school looming in the background, I took a leap of faith at the opportunity… and I’ve never looked back! Under the tutelage from the Desiderio’s at Tranquillity Farm, who gave me an incredible start to the industry, I was then able to work for top hunter Victoria Colvin and then onto the jumpers working with Conor O’Regan and going on the Major League Show Jumping tour with him. This winter, I took a breakout of the saddle and worked as a vet tech under the incredible Jen Groon and was able to further deepen my equine knowledge to more than just riding and grooming. Currently, I am riding for Olympic Silver Medalist, Beat Mändli and his team at Staysail Farm; and I couldn’t be happier! My advice to any incoming students to Centenary is to take advantage of all the amazing extracurricular programs offered, work hard, never settle, and most importantly, NETWORK! You never know who you’ll interact with and where it will take you! This was never the plan for me but was always my dream. I never thought it would be possible but thanks to Centenary and the connections made within the equine studies program, I was able to pursue my passion professionally and I am forever grateful beyond words for all the amazing opportunities that have come along the way!”

My minors were secretarial skills, and I am forever grateful for shorthand and speed typing (letter composition). I was a regular writer exchanging notes from fellow classmates for at least 10 years following my graduation. I married almost immediately after graduation, and it was a marriage of 50 years. We together raised two children, one who was the original Snow White character at Disney World Orlando. After my husband’s passing, I have been independent for 23 years and still living in the house him and I built 70 years ago. Among other things, I was a fitness buff! I’ve been extremely blessed all my life and Centenary was the beginning of the real-life experience.”

Meet Lucile! “I came all the way from California to attend Centenary, I am also an international student from France. I graduated from Centenary in 2019 with a B.S. in Equine Studies with a concentration in Equine Science. Afterwards, my focus shifted to equine health and veterinary medicine, and I became actively involved in the ‘vet team’. From 2017 to 2019 I also worked with Centenary’s resident veterinarian, Dr. Jesslyn Bryk-Lucy, through her own private ambulatory practice, Leg Up Equine Veterinary Services. While I was at Centenary, I was involved in Enactus, where I had the honor of holding the position of Co-President and participating on their presentation team. Being a part of Enactus was inspiring because I had the opportunity to see the impact our Enactus team had on local and global communities. I loved the small community at Centenary and the countless number of opportunities that were available for students. In addition, I felt the business program prepared me for entering the workforce. The professors at Centenary truly care for the success of their students.”

Meet Marisa! Marisa delivered the graduate reflection at Centenary University’s hooding ceremony for master’s and doctoral students in 2022. “I chose Centenary because of the great reputation it has within our local education community. Centenary has become the “go-to” for master and doctoral education programs within Sussex, Morris, and Warren counties. I have many colleagues who had great experiences within their education courses here and that is what prompted me to apply. My favorite thing about Centenary is the strong sense of community and the individual attention I received throughout my three years here. From the professors to the registrar and financial aid offices, people know me by name, and they have fully supported me along the way. It was a very different experience from the large universities where I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I made the right choice by coming to Centenary!”

Meet Megan! “I graduated from Centenary in 2016 with my Liberal Arts Degree and a concentration in Elementary Education and Special Education. Currently, I work for the Clifton Public School District as a First Grade Special Education Teacher. During my time at Centenary, I was a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters and I worked at Hatchery Hill Elementary School as a tutor! Meet Meghan! “I graduated from Centenary in 2018, double majoring in History and Political and Governmental Affairs with a minor in Theatre Arts. Currently, I work at the National September 11 Memorial Museum in New York City as an Education Specialist. While at Centenary, I was an Admissions Tour Guide, involved in the Student Government Association, performed and assisted with multiple productions through Centenary Stage Company’s NextStage Repertory and Young Audience Series, and was a Teaching Assistant for Professor Stephen Davis’ Theatrical Makeup class. I also had the privilege of being named valedictorian of my graduating class. My favorite thing about my Centenary experience was that Centenary’s small size allowed me to learn how to find my voice, state my thoughts cohesively, and function well in group settings. I was never sitting in the back of a massive lecture hall, not being able to actively participate, and this was a great asset to me as I moved into the workplace, then to graduate school and back into work. In addition, the support system I was able to build through the close-knit campus community was and is indispensable. Since I was involved in multiple academic departments, I saw professors collaborate to ensure I had the best chance to conquer my academic goals, as well as support my overall personal growth. In addition to the faculty, the staff and my fellow students helped create an environment where I felt supported and trusted to grow and accomplish whatever I set my sights on. This support system continues to this day, as I lean on multiple professors, staff members, and friends as I pave my post-Centenary path.”

My favorite thing about Centenary was the commitment to community service. My best memories were participating in the Midnight Run and serving with the first-year students during orientation week. Centenary is a small and strong community, and that taught me the importance of an institution’s connection to the surrounding community. That has become an important part of my work here in Memphis and I thank Centenary for instilling that in me.”

In my free time, I continue to ride horses, my horses name is Ellie. I also married a fellow Centenary Alumni Baseball player, Zack Seres, who owns Strong Together Chester CrossFit in Chester, NJ. We also have a cute pup named Tucker. I loved that Centenary was small enough that we really could have individualized attention in classes, career development, etc. It eased the process of coming from home to living alone, and then going into the workforce to have so much support from the school.”

Meet Mitchell! “I graduated from Centenary in 2015 with a sports management degree. Currently I am an NFL Analyst at Chat Sports covering the Las Vegas Raiders & NFL. While at Centenary I was on the baseball team, a part of Student Activities, was a tour guide, and worked in the Admissions Office. Meet Sean! “I graduated from what was Centenary College at the time in 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Sports Management. I then received my Master of Business Administration in 2015. When I was searching for my next level of education out of High School, I was looking for a place where I could combine my passion of playing lacrosse, along with pursuing a career in business. While I visited many different schools, Centenary was the one place that felt like home to me. The smaller school feeling and ability to get to know so many different people on campus, to having a more personal feel in the classroom and the lacrosse team, which welcomed me as family from day one are just some of the reasons why I chose Centenary. While at Centenary, I was on the lacrosse team for all four years, being a team captain for three of those four years. I was also a part of campus recreation helping with the intramural sports teams, as well as being the assistant equipment manager for the NCAA programs that we had on campus as well. After graduating from Centenary, I stayed on campus for two years pursuing my graduate degree and was hired as the Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach. After graduating with my MBA, I was ready for another challenge and moved to San Diego, where I pursued a different career in business and finance. After becoming a top producing private client banker for JPMorgan Chase, I left to continue my passion of helping others achieve their financial goals, by partnering with my father in our own financial advising business FSL Advisors. We use our experience and expertise to create customized financial plans, to help our clients, achieve their financial goals and dreams whatever they may be. When I am not helping others with their financial dreams, I am still very much active in sports and my community. I have been the head coach for Rancho Buena Vista High School Varsity Lacrosse since their inaugural season in 2018, where I coached both the boys and the girl’s teams. I am now currently just the girls’ varsity head coach, where the team is having its best season in program history. I also am involved in my local Rotary Club, where we do many service projects, and fundraising to help our local community as well. I owe so much to my time at Centenary, as I met some of my best friends in my life, made some of the greatest memories, and grew so much as a person, that I can’t imagine having gone anywhere else. I am forever gratefully to the University and look forward to being back to visit someday in the near future.”

During my time at Centenary, I was involved in EOP and was on the Men’s Soccer Team. My favorite thing about Centenary is that it is a small school, it allowed me to get to know my peers and professors on a personal level. The advantages having a small class allowed me to learn better and I felt that my professors were invested in my professional development. I was able to make friends and build friendships that lasted well after graduation. Lastly, being a part of the soccer team was the highlight of my time at Centenary because I truly enjoyed being a part of the team and continuing my soccer career at the D3 level. Centenary is an amazing fit for anyone that is looking to obtain top level education and build deep, long lasting, connections.”
